The largest section lies on the eastern bank of the Metauro River, where the vineyards and arable lands are. Its formation consists of grayish calcareous mud, which turns light blue just a few meters deep. The vegetative soil is predominantly silty clay loam with small carbonate nodules originating from water erosion and from the transformation of inorganic vegetative matter into humus.<\/p>\n

Our vineyards face south-southeast at 200 meters above sea level which stretches across 48 hectares of land.<\/p>\n

Our olive groves lie on the western bank of the Metauro River on a geological formation of sandstone layered with clay. We chose a valley facing south and shielded from icy winter winds, where noble olive trees had already been in existence. The vegetative soil is formed by humus and loamy sand.<\/p>\n

This can be a bit of a hard task for us given the meanderings of our rolling hills, which centuries of history and art have shaped into a unique landscape – though this probably holds true for every true farmer.
